Ad-hoc Committee for Review and Reforms (AHCRR)

Guided by the 2022 Administrative Decisions, the AHCRR’s mandate involves reviewing the current KPCS framework, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing reforms to strengthen its capacity to prevent the trade in conflict diamonds.

This committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring the KPCS remains adaptable to emerging challenges and continues its commitment to ethical diamond trade practices. Operating on a six-year cycle, the AHCRR is set to complete its work this year (2024), focusing on key areas such as the definition, the Core Document, Compliance and governance, and Technical Assistance on implementation of the KPCS.

The subteam on Definition which works on what is a conflict-diamond

The subteam on the Core Document focuses on maintaining and improving the Core Document, which serves as the foundation for all Kimberley Process operations.

The subteam on the Compliance and Governance which work focuses on ensuring that all Participants adhere to the established rules and regulations of the KPCS.

The subteam on Technical Assistance which aims at enhancing the available procedures to provide technical assistance to participants or potential participants to be able to implement the KPCS system
